I updated and corrected many pages of John Woo films. Check out the all moviepages
from Young Dragons to Better Tomorrow. These updated pages have a lot new
information, reviews, completed credits, multimedia and more.
Face/Off and international box office
Now I found some World Wide Box Office statistics for 1997. What we are
looking for is Face/Off. In US it was number seven with $ 112.6 million and
foreign Gross was $ 116.0 million making total $ 228.2 million. Not bad I could
say when we remember that reported cost was $ 80 million. But that all we alredy
know.
But in different countries Face/Off was on Box Office as follows (mentioned
only if in top ten): International Film Guide 1999
``Mission'' sequel shoot delayed in Oz
March 10, 1999 2:14 AM EST
By Mark Woods and Chris Petrikin
Members of the crew have been sent home and the March 20 start date delayed
for an unspecified number of weeks.
Paramount, which is financing the picture, confirmed that the film's
original start date has been pushed back a few weeks. The studio would not
discuss the reasons for the delay, but insisted that the film was moving ahead
as planned and is expected to begin production at the end of March or
beginning of April.
``I have no idea why this is happening,'' Searson added. ``It's just a fact
that the film has been put back a few weeks, which is certainly not unheard
of.''
Reuters/Variety
Finnkino (major film
distributor in Finland) has a weekly contest on their web site. This week one
question is who borrowed the knife for Psycho
remake. Movie is a remake of classical Alfred Hitchcock horror epic. Very
identical copy, I wonder why it was ever made. But anyway, the question. Correct
answer is John Woo. Also Film Magazine Trailer (in Finland) tells that John Woo
borrowed his kitchen knife to Gus Van Santille for the film because they don't
sell kitchen knifes big enough in US. Of course this knife is being used in
shower scene, you know that one?
Forthcoming John Woo & Chow Yun-fat
book
Unnamed source sais that that author RONIN RO, who wrote HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL:
THE SPECTACULAR RISE AND VIOLENT FALL OF DEATH ROW RECORDS (Doubleday 1998) is
working on a book about John Woo and Chow Yun-Fat. He doesn't have a final title
yet, but Ro was telling me he might call it: HONG KONG HOLLYWOOD, A BETTER
TOMORROW or GUN MEN. Looks like there will be plenty of John Woo books around in
near future.
