Face/Off DVD announced.
Paramount has announced their first
DVD titles and Face/Off is one of them. Release date is October 6th 1998.
Other titles released at the same time with (1) Face/Off
are (2) Star Trek: First Contact, (3) The
Saint, (4) Kiss the Girls and
(5) Twilight. And October 20th
will be released five more discs: (6) Top
Gun, (7) Clear
and Present Danger, (8) Primal
Fear, (9) In & Out and (10) Neil
Simon's The Odd Couple II.
Another fifteen titles will be released in November / December including
Paramount's greatest (best selling) action and comedy hits and some Star Trek
stuff. All titles will be in widescreen and English soundtrack both in Dolby
Digital 5.1 and Dolby Surround soundtracks - just like The Replacement Killers
DVD from Columbia - just name one. Real Dolby Surround audio track gives the
best possible sound for those of us without Dolby Digital system. Paramount
DVDs will also have French language and Spanish subtitles and also closed
captioning for the hearing impaired (and for those of us who read English
better than listen it).
Twentieth Century Fox Home Video will
release their first patch of eight DVDs on November 3. And it is possible that
Broken Arrow will be released soon. For sure it will be released in Japan.
The first Fox DVDs in US are some of the very popular titles: The Abyss, Young
Frankenstein, Porky's, Predator, Jingle All the Way and Marked for Death
(US$29.98 each) and Home Alone 3 and Hope Floats (US$34.98 each).
Some John Woo films will be released in Japan. Release dates in Japan are:
Broken Arrow Sebtember 18th and Blackjack, John Woo's second TV pilot, October
24th. There is no info about possible US releases. Release dates for Japanese
DVDs by Filmifriikki, No 1 film and
DVD store in Finland.

Forthcoming Woo films.
John Woo reportedly will produce an all-CGI film called Blue Planet.
Hey guys and gals, this flick is one to watch. We're searching for
confirmation on the John Woo aspect of this rumor, but as for the film
itself, it looks so damn good it isn't even funny. If you click here, you'll
find a report on the film, and the trailer. You'll be drooling by the end of
it! I haven't been able to confirm this for sure yet, but JOHN WOO has
apparently signed on as a Producer for Blue Planet -- the all cgi action
flick that Rainbow Studios has been working on.
I hear they've been in negotiations for some time (a good few months).
Tiny Stutterheim (former GM of Amblin Imaging -- SeaQuest etc) is the
Director and apparently John's team have already approved the script...
which I hear kicks ass.
More as I know it...

Mission Impossible 2
HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - British actor Dougray Scott, currently appearing as
the handsome prince opposite Drew Barrymore in Ever After: A Cinderella
Story, is close to a deal to play a more sinister role in a sequel to
Mission: Impossible. Scott has been tapped to play a villain in the John
Woo-directed follow-up to the successful 1996 action-thriller starring Tom
Cruise and loosely based on the 1960s TV show.
Cruise and a fellow cast member from the original feature, Ving Rhames,
are expected to return for the second installment.
Scott's previous screen credits include the asteroid disaster picture
Deep Impact and Kevin Allen's 1997 black comedy Twin Town.

Hong Kong box office 1997 hits.
This may be a bit old information but forgive me. This list tells Box
Office records in Hong Kong last year. And all figures are - of cours - in
Hong Kong dollars. Face/Off did quite well being the best non Hong Kong
production and number six in total. Check out more details at Film

John Woo DVDs available soon.
Tai Seng version of Bullet in the Head and Once a Thief DVDs are coming out
on 9/29 in US. dvdexpress.com says that running time of Bullet in the Head
will be 117 minutes, so it would be the same version what Tai Seng currently
distributes in US. This is strange because I've been reposted tha Hong Komg
DVD runs 126 minutes (not yet arrived, I have not seen it). And was supposed
to import these Mega Star DVDs as they were released in Hong Kong, without
modifications. So it would be more than likely that Tai Seng DVD is the first
good change to get the long version in US.
By the way, also re-release of A Better Tomorrow DVD with 'original
soundtrack' is now available in Hong Kong. This version includes original
music but it is also mixed to Dolby Digital 5.1. Currently it is unknown if
Tai Seng will import new version.
